Tennis Exercises - Increasing Your Strength and Power

Back in the day many people didn't bother doing any tennis exercises (these players would have been much weaker than our era of players) because they thought that by doing these exercises they would ruin their game. However, soon people gave it a shot and they became stronger and more powerful! Then everyone else had to do these tennis exercises so that they could keep up with the new competition! This led to these exercises being an ESSENTIAL part of tennis training.

I looked into these exercises to see which ones to include into my tennis training schedule. I composed the schedule to have 3 exercises which I would repeat back to back 5 times (rest 20 seconds after each 3). One workout I used with the tennis exercises was.....

  1. Step Jump
  • Start on one side of a step/box/low barrier
  • Jump over to the other side
  • Keep going for 30 seconds
  • Move onto the next exercise
      2. Squat Jump
  • Start in a standing position
  • Squat down
  • When you reach the bottom of your squat explode (jump) up with your hands straight in the air
  • When you land repeat from the standing position
  • Repeat this 15-20 times
      3. Explosive Press-ups
  • Start in the press-up position
  • Do a press-up
  • Just before you straighten your arms fully push up so that you hands slightly come off the floor
  • As soon as you hit the ground go straight into a press-up and repeat
  • Repeat this process 15-20 times
This was just 1 of the many workout I had (to make sure that my body didn't get used to them.

When you're planning yours make sure that you only use the workout 3-4 times a week!

If you were like me starting to use tennis exercises is going to be tough especially if you don't have the right tennis nutrition to fuel your body!

Tennis exercises - An ESSENTIAL to keep up with the new level of competition!
