Tennis Fitness Tip - Interval Training

Interval training is one of the best things you can include in your tennis fitness routine.

Tennis is a game of stamina and explosiveness, not long distance running. It is quick, not slow. For this reason you want to be using interval training in your routine instead of long distance runs.

What is interval training?

Interval training is the method of doing something at a high intensitty for a period of time and then resting for a shorter time and then repeating the whole process. For example the most known old fashioned interval training would be to sprint at a high intensity for 20-30 seconds and then to rest for 10. After the rest you sprint again and then rest and so forth.

This will tire you out quickly but is a great way to increase your stamina and endurance which you NEED in your tennis games.

Other tennis fitness routines which use interval training could be "the bleep test", "trabata rounds" and you can also use a punch bag for interval training too!
